A working two-part flashlight, built to learn safe operation of the lathe, mill, and bandsaw.
Objective. During my freshman summer I took 2.670, MIT's Mechanical Engineering Tools course, developing the skills to safely operate machine tools like the bandsaw, manual mill, and lathe.
Solution. Over three days I built a fully functioning flashlight from two parts: the threaded handle that houses the batteries, turned on the lathe, and the head that houses the bulb, pocketed on the mill.
